SHOCKING!!!

Aspen had a run-in with the net on the trampoline! She was carrying around so much static electricity that when she walked by me all the hair on my arm would stand up. The boys did their hair too. Not as noticeable as their hair is only a couple inches tall.

Campout

The kids had a long weekend and were off school on Friday and Monday. So we decided to have a campout. It was the first cool night since May and so we pitched the tent in the back yard and made smores over candles in the kitchen (they don't work as well as a real fire). I of course didn't get any sleep. The wind was kind of strong and noisy and so at 5am when Hazel woke up I moved everyone inside so I could get a couple hours of decent sleep. But everyone had lots of fun. The other boy in the photo is Caleb who lives down the street. He wanted to make smores too.

So Hazel had her first tast of 'real' food. She loved it. She has been intently watching us during dinner and decided she wanted to try it out. Still trying to get the hang of actually swallowing the food though.

All I want for Cwithmath...

Nate pulled Isaac's tooth out today!! His first ever (for both of them). Isaac's tooth has been loose for 4 weeks and has been asking everyday when it was going to fall out. So finally it was pretty wiggley and Isaac let Nate just pull it out. He looked a little shocked that it actually came out and didn't quite know what to do. He is very excited though. He put it in a baggie and rushed it upstairs to put under his pillow for the Tooth Fairy. Apparently there are many tooth fairies (according to Aspen). The kids' friends know tooth fairies that hand out $2 for lost teeth. The tooth fairy that comes to our house only gives out $1 per tooth. The tooth fairy that used to come to my house when I was little only handed out quarters.

Of course there was the famous incident when Toby lost his tooth and swallowed it. So he made a fake tooth out of paper and gave it to the tooth fairy. He got fake money in return!! Toby thought it was very funny.

BANK OF DAD

So there was a neighborhood garage sale yesterday. We weren't going to participate because I just dejunked about a month ago and got rid of 2 truckloads of stuff at Goodwill. But the kids wanted to sell some stuff so we let them. I told them they could keep the money from whatever they sold. So Aspen sold her bike and Toby sold his Powerwheels and Isaac sold the battery for the Powerwheels and a pair of sneakers that he had outgrown and his bike also. So the kids each made money and quickly deposited it in the Bank of Dad. It is amazing how much they have saved over the past 6 months. They are currently saving to buy a RoboRaptor and new bikes. And we are going to Disneyland and Legoland this month. It's fun to see them so excited to bank their money and watch their savings grow (The Bank of Dad pays 2% per month.) We'll see what happens when they actually buy something and large chunks of their money are gone. But I am glad they are learning about managing their money now when they are young. Perhaps they will have better habits when they are older than I do when it comes to money.
