11 Reasons to Rejoice

It's been a great day.

  1. School is finally, officially out for the summer.
  2. I slept until 9:30 this morning.
  3. Bed time is moved to 9:00 pm (which facillitates the sleeping-in joy).
  4. Grandma Brunner is coming to visit.
  5. Hazel turns 1 tomorrow.
  6. Toby finally got his cast on - it is waterproof (thank goodness)!
  7. In the garage there is a cooler full of crawfish for dinner tomorrow.
  8. My refrigerator is as clean as it was when they first delivered it (it is also just as empty and not working at the moment - good thing we are going on vacation in 2 days).
  9. We are headed to the beach for a whole week of doing nothing.
  10. I'm looking forward to a summer full of fun: we played Monopoly today and Isaac won.
  11. I got these sweet new turquoise blue suede mary janes and they fit great and I love them.

Start Your Engines!!

At Pack Meeting tonight, there was a soap box derby. We decorated a box for our car. Toby was the designer. The we raced. Aspen raced for Toby because of his injured arm. They had to do laps and stop at the pit stop after each lap. On the first lap each driver had to change his tires (put on a new pair of socks. Aspen was wearing flip flops so it was easy for her; if the driver was not wearing socks she had to do 2 extra laps.) On the second lap they had to wash their windshields (sunglasses). On the third lap, they had to fill up (drink a glass of water). The Derby was a lot of fun. I liked making the car the best.

Nate had to try it on too!

Arrow of Light

At Pack Meeting tonight, Toby received his Arrow of Light Award and advanced to Boy Scouts. (I can't believe he is ready for Boy Scouts!) At the meeting Toby was also in charge of the flag ceremony. He has some great leaders and it is only because of them that Toby accomplished all that he has done.

Race update

Nate: 108.6
Betsy: 92.72 miles

As you can tell, we are a little slow at this race. Life keeps getting in the way. But we're still plugging away at it. I expect my mileage to shoot up, I'm entered in the Lake Tahoe 1/2 Marathon in September. I really need to get serious about training.

Dear Tooth Fairy

Translation: Dear Tooth Fairy, I lost a tooth. My mom accidentally threw it away. Please do not look in my mouth because I do not like it. Thank you.
Further- Isaac says that if he doesn't hear back from the tooth fairy by his birthday (which is soon) he will make a wooden tooth to put under his pillow.
All of this came about because he says that he wants to get free money from the tooth fairy. The tooth fairy is not his mom, so he thinks he can fool the tooth fairy. Toby once swallowed his tooth so he put a fake paper tooth under his pillow - he got fake money in return. Isaac knows that he risks the tooth fairy giving him fake money for the wooden tooth. I think the tooth fairy may just quit visiting this tricky little boy. By the way, if you missed it, Isaac has not lost a tooth recently and I have not thrown it away. Although I think that I did accidentally throw one of Toby's teeth away once.

Getting old!

I'm feeling old.

Hazel's Birthday Picture

I took Hazel to the professional photographers at the mall for her first annual free 8X10. This also happened to be the only picture that actually looked like her. (The others were just lukewarm.) She is developing quite the personality: she is very particular at times, she is a girl who knows what she wants and lets you know it!
