I was warming up a hotdog for lunch today and it started sparking in the microwave. I was starting to think that there were metal flakes in the hotdog or something, so I called Nate. Nate looked it up on the internet and found out that some foods arc in the microwave because of the salts and minerals in them. So hotdogs, carrots, and grapes were mentioned. Of course we had to try it again and again to watch the little sparks go off in the microwave. The video of the grapes turned out best. Hope you liked it.
If you want to try this yourself:
Cut a grape in quarters,
Dry it off as best you can.
Put it skin side down in the microwave.
Cook for 15 seconds.
It is really cool.
Try it at your house!
crazy crazy!
ReplyDeleteCDs are fun too
ReplyDeleteWhat kind of hot dogs were you using? If I couldn't heat up a hot dog in the micro, my kids might starve!
ReplyDeleteI used low fat kosher hotdogs. But I don't think that matters. I think it is when you cut up the hotdogs in little quarter bites and when some are touching each other at the corners. Apparently electons build up in the corners and then fly off and make sparks. Grapes were the best though and make big flames!
ReplyDeleteI couldn't believe those grapes caught on fire. It wsa cool. I want to go buy some grapes and try it.
ReplyDeleteI'm totally trying this today for lunch. Also, could you get me Hester's and your mom and dad's addresses? Email them to me at btbmegadc at comcast dot net.
ReplyDeleteI've had that happen with hotdogs when I cut them up for the little kids prior to warming them up. Now I know why.
