We are finally home after our second road trip this summer. We have been in 20 states (9 states twice, 2 states 3 times), Washington, D.C., and visited briefly in Canada. We saw license plates from 48 of the 50 United States (we never saw a car fom Hawaii or from New Mexico). We put more than 8,000 miles on our car in less than 4 weeks. We spent about 140 hours driving in our car.
Next time -- we're flying.
How much did you spend on gas?
ReplyDeleteWe didn't keep track of that.
ReplyDeleteThose are staggering numbers.
ReplyDeleteBut after spending 3 weeks in 3 countries in South America - and a lot of time in airports and on airplanes, it might not be much better than a road trip.
(Our trip was WONDERFUL but I did get tired of airports!)
On our trip to Idaho, I think I only filled the tank about 6 times. Not too bad for a 4200 mile road trip. The one back to NY was probably not much more. I was afraid gas would be really expensive once we got out of Texas. But it was actually cheaper in a lot of states. I think the most we paid was $4.25. Plus, our car was parked during the 6 days in NYC.
ReplyDeleteI always say I'm flying from now on too. I said that after Padres last year and then look at Christmas! Any bets on how long your lasts?
ReplyDeleteyou should have had a stay-cation. but to simulate the road trip, burn $3200 worth of gas in the back yard, and hit your engine with a sledge hammer. Nice V across the country.
