- We school-supply shopped.
- We went to the doctor for booster shots - that really hurt - Made my big girl cry...after the nurse left he room. She tried to be brave.
- And really big grocery shopped (I haven't really shopped for over a month).
- Picked up the dog from the vet (where she was boarded while we were gone.)
- All the kids (except Hazel) started school last week.
- FHE - back to school blessings from Nate.
- Gave Toby a hair cut.
- Gave Isaac a hair cut.
- Met the new neighbors.
- Toby started seminary - at 5:00 AM. Ouch.
- Schedule changes because Aspen had no classes with her friends.
- So now she is on the tennis team so she can be in one class with her best friend.
- Which meant we had to go back to the doctor for a sports physical (because it was just a little different than the well-child check we did three days before when she got her shots and cost another $25).
- I had beginning-of-the-year parent-teacher conferences with Isaac's teachers.
- Emailed all the teachers contact information and signed a ream's worth of papers from the school.
- Created a new schedule and started school stuff with Toby for the new year.
- Answered email.
- Had a couple play dates for Hazel.
- Clean out the girls' closets to figure out what clothes the need/don't need for fall (which won't happen for a couple more months, but the hand-me-downs will go to someone who might need them sooner).
- Bought new Sunday shoes for Isaac.
- Store returns/ birthday gift for friends/more school supplies that were requested after the start of school.
- Laundry/laundry/laundry.
- Taught all the kids to iron their own Sunday clothes.
- Still have Nate's ironing to do. (maybe I'll hire the kids to catch that up.)
- Finally got the house clean, the car vacuumed out and inside windows washed, (still needs to be washed from the road trip).
- Filled in the new calendar for the school year.
- Fill out application to volunteer at Isaac's school (yea, you have to apply! and get a back ground check.)
- Returned all the borrowed things I've collected or that have been left at my house over the past few months.
- Sewed a bag for Aspen.
- Weeded the garden.
- Cooked breakfast 4 of the past 6 days for the kids.
- And cooked dinner 5 of the past 7 nights (ordered pizza one night, had left overs another night).
- Took all 4 kids to the dentist to get their teeth cleaned. Found out every single kid had cavities. Not happy. Now I need to take them all back - one at a time - to fill the cavities.
- Refill prescriptions.
- Sewed patches on Isaac's scout shirt.
- Went to pack meeting.
- Went swimming with Hazel's friend.
- Picked up Aspen early from a birthday party due to inappropriately rated movie that was about to be shown.
- Have not been successful yet at the earlier bedtimes I planned.
- Went to a movie with Nate.
- Went on a date to IKEA with Nate. And sampled the new dishes at Chuy's Green Chili Festival.
- Took some family pictures before church this morning (because I had curled all the girls' hair, and mine, and we all looked nice).

Wow! I'm sorry, and good luck.
ReplyDeleteWOW! I don't dare write down everything I have to do for fear it will send me into a deep depression. Reading your list almost pushed me over the edge... I do like the idea of making a list of everything I've done though- I hope you feel incredibly accomplished! You are a great mom :) I'd love to see you and get together for lunch if you are ever in Fort Worth for more than just a quick Dr. appt!
ReplyDeletei think you really really need to insert breathe, pause, and be still a few time here and there on your list.
ReplyDeletefor your sanity :) and your health and well-being
and so that you can get everything done and not feel burnt out.
also delegate some things. like let the kids make dinner one night. i let my oldest do it for 2 weeks to pass off a goal in YW. or let the kids do the weeds for a little extra money. i ask my husband Ryan to iron - he does it better than i do anyway.
i've been burnt out. it is no picnic. i don't know you all that well but from what i read on your blog you are an amazing mom and wife. your family is very lucky. just make sure you take some time for yourself.
best of luck to you in getting everything done.
Betsy, you are amazing.
ReplyDeleteI could probably get a few things done in the time it would take to make a list of everything that needs to be done.
ReplyDeleteSo I do neither and curl up with a book instead!!
(You can do that when you are an empty-nester!!)
ouch - this is why i am dreading school starting next week.
ReplyDeletethat list is huge. Mine big but not that big for when I get my cast off.
ReplyDeleteHow do you do it all Betsy?
