Hazel has an imaginary friend. I just met her today. Apparently, Toby introduced them the other night while Hazel was invading his room when she was supposed to be in bed. I guess she was scared and Toby told her to find a protector. Hazel's friend is named Halinonykinny. She is a pink dragon who eats chicken nuggets.
Anyway, Hazel , her dragon, Toby and I went to lunch with Nate today. Toby tried to sit right next to Hazel in the booth we were seated at. Hazel was very upset that he was squishing her dragon. Nate and Hazel even did "whoop-di-doo" with the new friend on the way to the car. Then I shut the door before the dragon could get out of the car at at the store. I'd already locked the door, so we had to suggest to Hazel that her dragon was a trickey dragon who could melt through doors to get out of the car. Luckily, she bought it.
None of my children have had an imaginary friend before, so this is a new experience for me. Pretty cute, for the moment anyway. We'll see how long this lasts.
You know this pet dragon could get very expensive if it went that way. :)

ReplyDeleteMaggie has an imaginary friend. Her name is Sally. She dies. A lot. Once she got eaten by a bear. Once she got ran over by a truck. And once she died from cancer. A very unlucky friend. But it helps her cope with whatever fears she has at the moment.
