Scaredy-Dog

I'm going to rename Copper. She thinks she is so fiersome - but -- she's so not.

Last night there was a little thunder storm. Copper (and Hazel) were crying at 2 AM this morning. (Copper is just a tad louder than Hazel.) Hazel finally went back to her own bed at 3 AM. Copper, however, could not be persuaded to leave my side until 8 o'clock this morning. She slept under me, under my bed, until I finally got up.

Lest you think otherwise, we love Copper, especially Hazel. Thankfully, Copper is great with kids!

More Fish

So, last weekend, it took Hazel all day to get used to getting in the water. Here she is today. This other little girl's mom asked how we got her to jump in the pool. Hazel learned how to do it by watching the other little girl--Hazel just managed to jump ALL the way in.

Feeling Blue

Got a new computer--Windows Vista. Installed I-Tunes.

Band Festival

Toby went to a Band Festival on Saturday down in New Braunfels, (with Nate as a chaperone). Their beginning band placed first and got a trophy! Mr. Moede is a great band teacher. Toby really had a good time. Especially since after the festival they all went to Schlitterbahn (water park)! I brought Aspen, Isaac, and Hazel down in the afternoon. We all had a good time. Hazel took her time getting used to the water. I didn't manage to get any pictures (except for a couple of Hazel NOT enjoying the water). But it was a fun day all the same.
I am so looking forward to school being over and the lazy days of summer beginning. ( 9 more school days left!!!)

Texas Tradition

In Texas they have these funnel cakes. They are basically deep fried pancake batter with tons of powdered sugar. We've never had any urging what-so-ever to eat one of these things until Friday. You can always find funnel cakes at any kind of fair, carnival, game, rodeo, or any other public gathering. Well, we went to a Round Rock Express baseball game the other night and the funnel cake guy was walking up and down the aisles (just like the hotdog and beer and snocone vendors) and Nate got to feeling like he needed to experience this Texas tradition. (I felt no such longings and am generally repulsed by these deep-fried concoctions.) I at least talked him into a funnel cake fresh from the oil...
He really liked it...so did Aspen. I refrained. I'm sure that my digestive system thanked me.

Going to get a new member of the family...

Hazel & I took a quick trip to Seattle last week. We went to visit Pete and Mom and to bring Copper back to Texas. Hazel was a great little traveler. At first she wasn't too sure about flying on the plane and didn't want to look out the windows. So they were closed most of the flight. But she was the quietest of the 8 2 year olds on the plane!! She did really well.

Pete was our tour guide for the day. We went to lunch down on the wharf. Great crab cakes and fish and chips. Hazel loved watching the water. It was a little nerve-wracking for me - she found a hole in the fence and wanted to climb through. After lunch we walk around Pikes Place Market. There was some cool stuff to see and it was fun to walk around. We also saw the famous fish market where they throw the fishes and yell. I was glad that we got to go there. Next we went to the area by the space needle. We didn't go up, but enjoyed the gardens around the Needle. I saw lots of great sculptures in all the places we visited.

Later, Pete and Amy took us to Snoqualmie (sp?) Falls. Hazel really liked to see the water fall, as long as she wasn't getting rained on. At the lookout, there was so much mist from the falls it felt like it was raining. Though Hazel didn't like the mist, she insisted on going back 2 more times to see the falls.
After dinner, we had some great indian food (always a good thing). Hazel and I were pretty tired and so we went back to the hotel to wait for Mom and Copper. We didn't get to stay long, but we had a great time. I didn't get a picture of Hazel and Mom, but she did, so I'll have to get a copy.
Copper made it to Texas and we were all glad to be back home. Hazel loves to play with Copper - she even tried giving the phone to Copper to talk on. It was funny to watch.
