Happy Birthday!!

Happy Birthday Mom!

Happy Birthday Maddy!

Tournament Weekend

This weekend is Isaac's baseball tournament. His team did awesome today! They won both games by a lot (7-10 points). Isaac had a great inning in the first game. (I missed this game but Nate called to let me know). In the bottom of the second, he was playing pitcher (by the coach from the other team who was pitching). There was a man on first. The batter hit a pop fly, Isaac ran back a little and caught it. The man on first had run to second, Isaac made a great throw--double play. The next batter hit a grounder, Isaac fielded it, made another great throw, and beat the runner going to first. Isaac's skills have really improved this season.

This was a close call. But since it wasn't a forced play, Isaac was safe. (He loves sliding - practices this in the house ALL.THE.TIME.)

(Isaac is always sticking his tongue out!)
Unfortunately the rest of the tournament is on Sunday, so he will miss them. But he really contributes to his team.

Hut's Hamburgers

We were downtown for Isaac's baseball tournament and happened to notice this hole-in-the-wall burger joint on our way back home. Nate had actually heard of it before and it was supposed to be good. So we stopped, since it was lunchtime and everyone was cranky with hunger.

The burgers were good and sloppy. Toby and Aspen opted for the buffalo burger. Other choices were all natural beef, veggie pattie or chicken (I think). The kids said the buffalo was good.

They had monster onion rings and real french fries. I wish we lived closer to downtown so we could experience more great local finds. (I am tired of the lame chili's or TGIFridays or pizza joints you generally find in suburbia. I am also tired of suburbia, but that another story.) I guess I just need to find more excuses to go downtown!

Time Machine

We were pulling out of Chuy's parking lot the other day and found ourselves behind this:

(If it's too blury for you to read or you don't recognize this, it's a de lorean.)

What are these kids thinking?--Continued . . .

Isaac had this huge crawfish yesterday. He decided to use the top half as a finger puppet. That is all fine and good--the other kids were also pretending the crawfish were action figures.

However . . .

He liked it so much that he decided to keep it, and hid it in the garage, so he could play with it later.

Crawdads

Crayfish, crawfish, mud bugs. They have lots of names. But whatever you call them, they are delicious. We invited some crawfish newbie friends to enjoy them with us last night. We managed to eat nearly 27 pounds of those Louisiana delicasies. I must admit, it is a little intimidating to eat something with its head still attached. But our friends were troopers and tried it despite the "tear off its head" eating instructions. If you are ever here visiting in April, we'll treat ya'll to some.
