Silly Goose!
Hazel loves to play the mischievous little sister role.
How did Aspen get such an accent?
It's all your fault
I was talking to my friend Katie the other day when she came to pick up her daughter Briton, whom I had been keeping while she went to an appointment.
Katie: Briton keeps asking "Why?" all the time. It is driving me nuts.
Me: Really? (I had just watched her for three hours and gotten the full "Why?" experience) Hazel just asks "What?" all the time.
Katie: Yeah. Briton used to ask "What?" Then a couple days ago she started asking, "Why?"
(It suddenly dawns on me that there is something I need to tell Katie about that.)
Me: Oh, about that: When Briton was over a couple days ago she was talking to Nate and asking "what?" A LOT. So...
Nate says: Hey Briton, You want to know a better word to say? Say "Why?" all the time instead.
Katie: AAHHHH!!! So it's all Nate's fault!
Who knew she would actually understand what he was saying? Just goes to show...you never know when the kids are really listening.

It's a dog's life
Copper spends much of her day in one of these poses:
Mostly she is in the above pose following the puddles of sunshine across the living room floor or under my chair while I am working and playing. The other part of the day she is in front of one of our many windows, watching the world go by from whichever room I happen to be in. Sometimes there is a growl in her when she hears something ominous sounding, or sees another dog, someone coming to the door, or a golfer that is too close. After which she must be let outside to check it out, bark her warning and defend us.
Remember these?
We had these same clips when I was a little girl. I have been looking for these for awhile. And finally, after 3 walmarts, 2 HEB's, and 2 Tagets, I found them at Super Target. I wanted something that would stay in Hazel's hair and didn't involve a ribbon. Anyway, I bought both sets that they had and she wanted every single one in her hair last night. Then she promptly pulled them all out after 2 minutes and pretended they were food in her play kitchen. At least she is using them for something, if not for her hair. We'll try again tomorrow.

The Consecutive Club
Our primary started a new program this year called the Consecutive Club. The kids have been asked to help their families hold daily scripture reading, family prayer and weekly family night. For every week they do this, they get their card punched. So we have renewed our efforts and begun again. Even Hazel reads something. Why don't you join us? I am not sure what the primary is offering as a reward, but I know that you'll enjoy a more peaceful home and more obedient children in the meantime (I read that as a promise from Boyd K. Packer somewhere).
