Mystery Solved

During the winter in Texas, all the grass goes dormant and brown. However the greens on the golf course are always green. I wondered if they just overseeded with a winter grass (like rye, which is common), or if they just fertilize and water a lot;
but no... they paint them green.

  1. Could also include seeds or fertilizer. I believe they did something similar to plant Jeremy's grass for his yard.

  2. The hydroseed does go one green like that--but you're not allowed on it for something like 6 weeks to give the plants a chance to grow.

  4. No, really, it's paint. the real grass is dormant until april, and no amount of fertilizer will change that. What vanity:)

  5. haha,.. well nobody wants to come golf in the dead of winter on the brown,... it just ruins the whole idea of getting the ball on "the green". I'd imagine this is their best business solution for getting business during the winter. :)

  6. Me being the landscaping "Afficianado" ... here is the scoop ... if it were hydroseed the green mulch would turn brown in about two days and they would be spraying it on with something similar to a firehose.... that is definitely a nice paint job!

    Although from my standpoint ...WHAT A WASTE OF MONEY!
