Strawberry Fields

Today was beautiful. It was the perfect day to go pick strawberries. So we headed out to Sweet Berry Farms in Lexington to pick us some red beauties. It was a great drive. I feel homesick when I drive out in the country here. There are wildflowers everywhere, the world is green, and it looks so idyllic. I really wish we could own our own slice of country life. Anyway, we picked a whole bunch, ate half a box on the way home and we're going to be enjoying some strawberry desserts later.

Interesting Stuff

I found this site today. Click play to watch the movie. It was an interesting view on the global economy and our rate of consumption. I do not agree with everything she says. But it is food for thought.

Staying 'til the end

One of our yearly traditions is to go to 3 or 4 triple-A league games. So yesterday we went to our first Round Rock Express games of the season. It was a fairly boring game most of the time. By the 6th inning we were down 6-1. But in the bottom of the 9th, the Express was still down 6-4, with 2 outs, 2 men on base and 2 strikes. Nearly everyone in the stands had already gone home. But the last batter hit a homerun! And the team won dramatically 7-6. It was a fun game.

Aspen got her picture on the scoreboard while she was dancing the Twist!

Hazel had her first taste of cotton candy.

Going to minor league baseball is one of my favorite family traditions.

Hazel in the Faerie Garden

I took Hazel on a little field trip with some other pre-school moms to an educational farm near us. Of course Hazel enjoyed all the animals. But I was most excited about her reaction the the farm's faerie garden out in the forest. She was enthralled by all the little faeries!

She kept telling everyone to shush and she just about tip-toed through the whole garden. I was excited by her total immersion into imagination.

Red and Blue

Hazel comes with me everywhere everyday. Her favorite store to go to is the grocery store. However, if we have to go to a different store she asks:
"Are we going to the Red Target or the Blue Target?"
The Blue Target is across from the Red Target. It's called Wal-Mart.

What???

I walked into the bathroom to check to see if Aspen needed any shampoo in her shower and I saw her sticking her head out from behind the shower curtain. Her magazine was on the back of the toilet and she was reading it while she was kind of trying to take a shower!

Where to they think up these things?
