You belong in the Zoo!

We had originally planned to go to the zoo on the way home from Dallas last week. But it was 4:30 when we got there, and the zoo closed at 5:00. So we went back a couple of days later with some friends. We went in the morning too when it was still under 90 degrees (always a plus). I like this zoo because it is possible to see everything in about 2 hours. It is also very shaded and there are lots of indoor exhibits mixed in with the outdoor ones so that you never have to been in the hot sun too long.

My favorites are the giraffes.

Hazel wasn't too sure about the mountain lion. It just kept pacing back and forth on the other side of the glass.

There was also this clear tube slide in the river otter exhibit. The slide goes through the pond so that you can see the otters swimming around you. Pretty coool and very kid friendly.

Picnic in the Park

School starts in a couple of weeks so we are busy getting in all the last minute fun. Last week we had to go to Dallas for Toby's follow-up appointments from his surger last year, so we packed a picnic lunch and played at the park on the hospital grounds. It was a fun day, despite the 95 degree heat.

Silly girl!

She's got style!

Fiesta Time

Yesterday I took Isaac, Aspen, and Aaron to Six Flags Fiesta Texas. The part wasn't too crowded, so we got to go on lots of rides. Issac and Aaron failed the height test a couple times (Superman, Scream . . .), and we were held up a couple times waiting for rides to be fixed, and for a cleanup on aisle 6 (park worker looked like he was dusting for fingerprints at the rate he was sweeping). Still, plenty do do, include the Rattler (aptly named wooden roller coaster), and Tony Hawk's big spin, which has cars which spin around while the whole thing goes down a roller coaster track.
