Hester was Here

And now she's gone. She'll be in Norway for the next couple years. We miss her. But we are saving up to visit next summer. Hope you are settling in well Hester.

Spring tradition

I tried 2 different times to get wild flower pictures this spring. The first time was a little cold and pretty windy. The second time, it was warmer, but the bluebonnets were a little spent, and...it was windy...again. So now I have 300 pictures of windblown hair and a lot of messing around. It's going to take me a while to go through them. Here's one that I like to tide you over. (because I know you're perched on the edge of your seat waiting:)

The Moon's Friend--Part 2

A while back I posted about Venus being close to the moon in the nighttime sky (Hazel had commented that "the moon has a friend."). This morning the moon and Venus were hanging out again, this time in the early morning. This time I got a photo using my telescope. If you look closely at Venus, you will see that it is crescent-shaped, just like the moon.

Visiting the relatives

We trekked to San Antonio for baby Austin's blessing. We also got a special treat: a visit with charlie and jeanette too! It was a fun, relaxing afternoon. Austin is sooo cute! And Alex is too cute for his own good. I took some pictures while we were down there. These were my favorites.

Catch-up Post

We have been really busy lately. Here are a few things we have been up to:

Cleaning the garage--yeah, two cars actually parked in the three car garage. (look - you can actually see the floor all the way across the garage!)
This was kind of motivated by the previous week's hail storm. Nate called to warn me about the hail and see if I could get the car in the garage. So the kids and I shuffled the stuff around and piled it on one side so that I could squeeze my car in. Barely made it in when the hail hit. Nate was driving his car home. It wasn't so lucky.

We got a replacement parakeet--Coco (short for coconut). Suddenly the kids are interested in the parakeets again.

Went camping with a bunch of people from church. The kids have been asking to go fishing for a while, so we went fishing while we were there. We caught a couple bass. And ate it for brunch.
