Good advice

I have had this quote stuck to my fridge for about 2 1/2 years. But only recently rediscovered it's relevance for my life today. (It's been buried beneath the school lunch menu, phone numbers, birthday invitations, various reminders, cards, etc.)

"Today, with the abundance of books available, it is the mark of a truly educated man to know what not to read... Feed only on the best. As John Wesley's mother counseled him: 'Avoid whatever weakens your reason, impairs the tenderness of your conscience, obscures your sense of God, takes off your relish for spiritual things, ...increases the authority of the body over the mind'".

------------------Ezra Taft Benson "In His Steps", 1979 Devotional Speeches of the Year

Just something to think on.

Hazel knows first hand why it's important to help her mom.

Visitors

We had visitors over conference weekend: The Pratt's stayed with us for a few days and so we helped Dave celebrate his birthday and really enjoyed their company!

Do you know what this is?

A New Prayer

In the General Relief Society Broadcast last night, President Monson said, "Do not pray for tasks to be equal to your abilities. Pray for abilities to be equal to the tasks."

The Best Husband in the World

A few reasons why I have the best husband in the world:
  • Nate cleaned up the kitchen and living room for me last night while I was at the RS broadcast. He even vacuumed the floors and did all the dishes (including the ones that wouldn't fit or couldn't go in the dishwasher!)
  • Nate didn't complain when I called after the broadcast to let him know I was going out with for dessert with my friends.
  • Nate didn't even complain when we ended up not getting home until midnight. (The wait at the Cheesecake factory was over an hour!)
  • Nate watched the kids all afternoon while I took a nap because I was so tired from staying out all night.
  • Nate brought me flowers for no reason last week:)

Random stuff

Since I've been slacking on the blog posting, here's a bunch of random pics from the last month.

I have no idea where Hazel comes up with these faces! This one looks so UNlike her that it is funny.
Fall means more hot air balloon sightings. This guy flies over our house at least once a week.
Hazel found an easier way to drink from the fountain. Since it always shoots over the edge, she just stands outside with her mouth open wide!!
One of my favorite shrubs.
Finally enjoying corn ON the cob.
Copper keeps us company.
