South Padre 2006

We spent Memorial Day week at South Padre. It has become a family tradition that we love. It is nice to not have anything to do but play in the sand and the waves and relax.
This year we found lots of sea life. There were a couple of large sand crabs, some lionfish, a shrimp, another type of crab,

Some pipe fish, a sea slug and some kind of sea crab or spider. The kids and Nate would grab a chunk of seaweed and shake out whatever was living in it.

Even with a cast (which was water proof, thank goodness), Toby found lots of ways to play in the water. He did miss boogie boarding and running around a lot. Isaac collected lots of shells, dug in the sand and was the only one who never got even a touch of sunburn.
Toby has taken an interest in bird watching. But at the beach he just liked to chase the gulls.
Aspen, Isaac and Hazel loved playing in the sand. Isaac got buried everyday, as did Hazel. At first Hazel didn't like the waves. But after 2 or 3 days she was always going straight for the water. She also liked to put sand in her hair and everywhere else. At least she didn't seem interested in eating it. She really had a good time.

  3. My favorite were the pipe fish, which are very similar to seahorses, except they are straight.

No, Jere, Betsy is not pregnant.
