Hey, Kool-aid

I licked it, that piece is mine.

She actually licked it in a couple of places - it is her cake I guess.

I baked the cake last night and left it on the counter to cool.

I forgot about the dog that loves to eat food off the counter.

I had to cut off the dog-nibbled part. I was left with 1 and 3/4 rounds to make a cake.

I couldn't figure out how to fix it. Then.....a hah!!! I had an angel food cake in the pantry. So I cut a piece to complete the other round so that I could decorate Hazel's birthday cake. (That is the white part of the cake you see above and below.)

Hazel found this present first. This is what she said: "Wow! Wow! Wow!"

(She loves blocks and abc's-there were alphabet blocks in the bag.)

So to make Hazel's party a little more festive, I bought blowers and balloons, figuring they would be age appropriate for Hazel and she would enjoy playing some games. She did like making lots of noise with the blowers...

But the older kids had way too much fun with the balloons, and the blowers. You would think they never had balloons before! I'm glad that my age appropriate party games entertained somebody.

On a side note, I just picked up that dress for Aspen at Target yesterday. It was too cute to pass up.

It's Hazel's birthday today. I cannot believe how fast the last two years have gone by. I'm not ready for this! I guess that's how Hazel likes it. She came into our family 3 weeks early and I wasn't ready then. She keeps us on our toes! We enjoy every bit of happiness and energy that she brings to our family. We love her to pieces and she is definitely a bit on the spoiled side. Here's Hazel at 3 days old.

Cravings

When I was at the grocery store the other day, the clerk gave Isaac and Hazel a Buddy Buck. (These can be used at the point vending machine to get points to save for prizes.) Anyway, I handed Hazel her buddy buck and then went to load my groceries into my cart. When I turned back to Hazel, half of her buck was missing! And she was eating something...the other half. She swallowed before I could retrieve it.

Beach To Bay Relay Marathon

This last weekend i ran the Beach to Bay Relay Marathon in Corpus Christi with 5 of my friends from church. We had a great time and finished in 4 hours 35 minutes 32 seconds, faster than we anticipated. I ran the first leg which was on the beach. It was a little harder to run in the sand. But I loved it! I started right when the sun was coming up and it was cooler, almost chilly - perfect running weather. We had such a great time doing the race together. Now we are pumped to do more races.

Scaredy-Dog

I'm going to rename Copper. She thinks she is so fiersome - but -- she's so not.

Last night there was a little thunder storm. Copper (and Hazel) were crying at 2 AM this morning. (Copper is just a tad louder than Hazel.) Hazel finally went back to her own bed at 3 AM. Copper, however, could not be persuaded to leave my side until 8 o'clock this morning. She slept under me, under my bed, until I finally got up.


Lest you think otherwise, we love Copper, especially Hazel. Thankfully, Copper is great with kids!
