Special Effects

It's not a Photoshop effect, it's my truck encased in ice.

Last week we had an ice storm. It wasn't bad. No ice on the roads. Nothing to stop everyone from going about their daily business. My car was another story, however. There was enough ice on it that I couldn't open the doors, or see to drive. Luckily, the wind and rain only iced 3 sides of my car. Thank heaven for remotes. The car was locked and my vehicle only has a keyhole on the driver's side, none on any of the other doors. I was able to get in on the passenger side. I climbed through to start the car and crank the defroster to melt the ice on the windows, so that I could take the kids to school (we were already late). I kicked my door open, but the lock and handle on the outside were still frozen solid and would stay that way for another 3 hours. It took 15 minutes to melt the ice on the windows enough to safely drive the kids to school - late. Reminds me that I need to clean out my garage again so that I can park my car inside it.

Postal Service's New Product

I finally went to the post office this morning and mailed my Christmas cards. (They ended up being New Year's cards instead.) Anyway, I needed lots of stamps. So the nice lady at the counter was telling me what designs they had.

"We have sunflowers, hearts, more hearts, love, sinatra, disney, lincoln, breast control."

That's right. Breast Control stamps.
Of course she meant Breast Cancer Awareness stamps. But I thought the idea of controlling your breasts much funnier. Especially from this large bosomed postal worker. The whole line was cracking up. Hope you get a chuckle too.

What I Did on My MiLK Day Holiday

Because of the long weekend, I debated going on a day trip with the kids, but never got around to actually doing it. Instead we had a long, lazy weekend at home. I feel very refreshed! Here's a peek at some of the excitement:

• slept in till 10:30 am on saturday, 9:30 this morning! (haven't done that in YEARS!)
• washed my windows, inside and out
• cleaned out my pantry (now I can actually find food to make dinner)
  
• did the treadmill
• made cinnamon rolls (still making actually, can't wait)
• kids played in the sand box (it's been awhile since it's been warm enough)
• kids did their chores!!!
• read a book, and finished it
• watched a cheesey disney channel movie (some cinderella type movie)
• posted a bunch of my stuff on craigslist (this has been on my to-do list for 6 months)
• took pictures of my friend (they turned out really nice - mostly because she is beautiful) this is her below:

Levitating balloon trick

Science fair project time.
Not usually my favorite thing. It's always due right after Christmas (I guess they think we'll work on it over the break - yeah, right). And it's always left till the last minute. Anyway, this year we went on the easy end of the project spectrum. Just a couple balloons, a freezer and a blow dryer. Then measure the balloon and see what happens to the volume of air in the balloon. Simple, yes; but it got the job done. Isaac got it done in just 2 days, all by himself! Anyway...
These pics are NOT about the project. They are what he did after the experiment. Isaac did magic with the balloons and made them levitate. Kept him entertained for almost an hour!
