I was inspired to post this picture after seeing the pics of grandma and grandpa on Barbara's blog. Mom says that this was a typical sight on Sunday of Grandpa doing tithing on the dining room table. (Obviously things were done differently back then.)
the scary thing is i remember grandpa doing the tithing.
ReplyDeleteat least i think i do.
Grandpa was so faithful. I remember this and when he used to do it in the kitchen. He used an old, old adding machine (it can't even begin to be called a calculator). I have never seen this picture. Where did you get it Betsy?
ReplyDeleteA few years ago when I was at Grandma's She let me borrow some photos to make copies of. I never got around to it until we bought a scanner and then I just scanned them. I'm glad that I waited. I have a bunch others that I need help with identifying. Maybe I'll upload them to yahoo and ya'll can help me.
ReplyDeleteI can surely try. I am glad that you got those pictures. I want a scanner for my birthday. Then I will just need time.
ReplyDeletethis picture brings back so many memories of my Dad. that is how I remember him every sunday for years. before he was done he would call out so we could pay our tithing. i never knew you could give it to the bishop. my mom would also write a check for all the change for our milk money that week.
ReplyDeleteWe all remember the Sunday night tithing routine - I would be interested in seeing the pictures - I could probably identify a goodly portion of them too.
ReplyDeleteThere are probably a lot of pictures floating around - I've been trying to scan all the ones I have - and maybe do a major post so everyone can copy them.
